Billerica Colonial Encampment
Thank you to the Billerica Minutemen for proving our Vining students a glimpse of the past with the colonial encampment on Friday. Students were given an opportunity to visit the camp and ask questions.
Elementary School Visits
Our students that are scheduled to transfer to the Dutile, Hajjar, Kennedy, or Parker will have an opportunity to see their new schools during Meet the Teacher Day. I will keep you posted if any additional times are scheduled. If you would like to arrange an alternate time to visit these schools please let Mrs. Gibelli know.
Field Day
Field Day is this Thursday. Please make sure that you have a valid CORI on file before the event, if you are planning to volunteer. Any individual without a processed CORI will not be allowed to volunteer during the event.
We are asking that all volunteers sign in at the main office prior to walking to the field. Volunteers must wear the provided badge for the event.
We will have a separate water and sunscreen stations during field day. If you do not want your student to have sunscreen applied on field day, please let their classroom teacher know. The sunscreen is being supplied and applied by our PTO.
Please remember to send your child to school with sunscreen already applied and the following items:
Meet the Teacher Day
Students in kindergarten through grade three will have an opportunity to meet their teacher for next year on Monday, June 17. Transportation will be provided to their new schools within the district. Buses will leave the Vining between 9:00 and 9:15 for 9:30 visit. Please be sure to return a permission form for this event.
Middlesex Turnpike
The Middlesex Turnpike construction project continues to progress. Please note that during the week portions of the Turnpike will be closed and traffic will be detoured. This may cause additional traffic on Lexington Road.
Moving-on Ceremonies
On Tuesday and Wednesday, our fourth and fifth grade students will mark the end to the elementary years. With this comes a Moving-on ceremony and celebration immediately following. Please join our community in wishing them the best as they begin their middle school experience.
Please note that the ceremony will take place in the cafeteria while the celebration will take place in the gym and on the front lawn. Family and friends planning to attend are encouraged to bring additional seating for the lawn area.

Grade Three Field Trip
Our third grade students are scheduled to visit the Stone Zoo on Wednesday. Buses will leave school at 9:15am and return prior to dismissal. Chaperones please meet at the school at 9:00am. Please make sure that your student comes to school with a lunch or has purchased a bag lunch through food services. They are encouraged to apply sunscreen before coming to school and bring an extra cold water to the zoo. Cell phones and other electronic devices are not allowed on the trip.
Ice Cream Social
Please join us on Friday night, June 14, for our community end of year event. We are planning to have ice cream with toppings, a dj, bounce house, and a photobooth. This will be the last time the Vining Community is scheduled to come together. Family and friends planning to attend the ice cream social are encouraged to bring additional seating for the lawn area.
Lunch to Go
On our last day of school, students will have the opportunity to purchase a bag lunch to go. Options include bagel power pack, turkey power pack, and tuna power pack. Please return the order form to the cafe by Thursday.

Next Year
Please contact Mrs. Brewster if your home address is changing or if your child will be attending school outside of Billerica. We are in the process of planning for the 2019/2020 school year. If you are moving out of the Billerica school system, please complete a withdrawal form so that we can prepare your child's cumulative record.

On Monday, June 10, 2019 the Vining Elementary School is scheduled to present for the final time at the School Committee meeting. The slideshow is complete and members from our fourth and fifth grade chorus are prepared to sing. I am inviting all Vining Community members to attend this presentation. It would be wonderful if we were able to fill the cafeteria with Vining families to celebrate our community. If possible, please show your Vining School spirit by wearing your We Will Always Shine t-shirt!
