Billerica Colonial Encampment
On Friday, June 7, 2019 members of the Billerica Minutemen are scheduled to set up on the back lawn near the kindergarten playground. Students will be able to visit the encampment to learn more about life during the 1700's.
Canobie Lake Field Trip
Our fourth and fifth grade students are scheduled to go on the Canobie Lake Trip on Wednesday. Buses will depart by 8:15am and return at approximately 4:15-4:30pm. Please note that this trip is an extended day trip and parents/guardians are asked to pick up their child at the Vining.
On the morning of the trip, students will receive their moving-on t-shirts. They will be asked to change into these t-shirts at school.
Please remember to send your child with:
Ditson Open House
The Ditson Open House has been rescheduled for Wednesday, June 5 from 3:30-4:30. This drop-in event will allow our students to visit their new school and informally tour the building. Please contact vhatem@billericak12.com if you would like to schedule an alternate time to visit the Ditson.
Elementary School Visits
Our students that are scheduled to transfer to the Dutile, Hajjar, Kennedy, or Parker will have an opportunity to see their new schools during Meet the Teacher Day. I will keep you posted if any additional times are scheduled. If you would like to arrange an alternate time to visit these schools please let Mrs. Gibelli know.
Grade Two Field Trip
Our second grade students are scheduled to visit the New England Aquarium on Thursday. Buses will leave school by 8:15am and return prior to dismissal. Please make sure that your student comes to school with a lunch or has purchased a bag lunch through food services. Cell phones and other electronic devices are not allowed on the trip.
Field Day
Planning for our last field day is being finalized. Please make sure that you have a valid CORI on file before the event. Any individual without a processed CORI will not be allowed to volunteer during the event.
We will have a separate water and sunscreen stations during field day. If you do not want your student to have sunscreen applied on field day, please let their classroom teacher know. The sunscreen is being supplied by our PTO.
Please remember to send your child to school with sunscreen already applied and the following items labelled with their name:
Meet the Teacher Day
Students in kindergarten through grade three will have an opportunity to meet their teacher for next year on Monday, June 17. Transportation will be provided to their new schools within the district. Buses will leave the Vining between 9:00 and 9:15 for 9:30 visit. Please be sure to return a permission form for this event.

- a small drawstring backpack
- refillable water bottle
- lunch in a disposable lunch bag or money if buying lunch
- sunscreen
- a hat
- change of clothes including undergarments
- bathing suit - many students wear their bathing suits underneath their clothing. We ask that students wear a one piece bathing suit.

We are in the process of putting together a slideshow of photos that were taken during the 2018-2019 school year. I am inviting all Vining Community members to attend this presentation. It would be wonderful if we were able to fill the cafeteria with Vining families to celebrate our community. We Will Always Shine!
