Art and Poetry Night
Our final Art and Poetry night will be held on Monday, April 29 at 6:00pm at the Billerica Public Library. All submitted art and poetry will be displayed for a week following the event and then again during our Open House on May 17.
All submissions are due on Thursday, April 25. Please contact Mrs. Kathleen Skelton with any questions at Kathskelton@live.com

Bus Evacuation Drill
On Monday morning all of our students are scheduled to participate in a bus evacuation drill. Students will learn about how to safely evacuate a bus in case of an emergency. During the drill students will be asked to board a bus, listen to a brief presentation on how to exit the bus, and then practice once. The drill will be conducted by Eastern Bus Company staff and should last for approximately twenty minutes.

MCAS

For students in grade 3 and 5, are scheduled to participate in MCAS ELA testing this week. On Tuesday and Wednesday, third graders will test, and on Thursday and Friday fifth graders will test. The state provides us with strict guidelines for student participation. Please make sure that your student arrives to school on time. Students that arrive after the test session begins will not be able to join their peers until after the session is complete. If a student is absent or misses a testing session, a make-up test will be provided if the student returns to school during the testing window.

Picnic Tables

Over the past two weekends all of our outdoor picnic tables have been either destroyed or vandalized. These tables were donated to the Vining Community in the fall when Boston Cares visited. We have reported this vandalism to the Billerica Police Department.

Recess
Please do not allow your child to bring baseballs, baseball bats, lacrosse sticks, or hard footballs to play with during recess. Soccer balls, Nerf balls, and basketballs are allowed. If you have any questions about allowed recess items please contact the main office or your child's teacher.

Sports Equipment

With the start of town wide spring sports, please be reminded that if your child needs to bring his or her equipment to school, the items must be left in the main office. This includes baseball bats and lacrosse sticks.
