BPS Kindergarten Registration
Dear Billerica Community,
We are excited to inform you about this year's kindergarten registration process. In an effort to create a more uniform experience for families with kindergarten registration, we are centralizing the process and will have all Billerica families with incoming kindergarten students register at one location.
Kindergarten registration for BPS will take place at the Billerica Public Library located at 15 Concord Road. Please note that families should not go to individual schools to register. Multiple dates and times for Kindergarten registration are available:

  • Tuesday, March 5, 2019 3:00pm - 7:00pm
  • Wednesday, March 6, 2019 9:30 am- 12 noon
  • Wednesday, March 6, 2019 3:00pm - 7:00pm
  • Thursday, March 7, 2019 9:30am - 12 noon
  • Thursday, March 7, 2019 3:00pm - 7:00pm
  • Friday, March 8, 2019 9:30am - 12 noon
  • Friday, March 8, 2019 3:00pm - 7:00pm
  • Saturday, March 9, 2019  9:30am - 12 noon
Families should go to the BPS website to get information about required documents for registration and BPS registration forms. https://sites.google.com/a/billericak12.com/bps/ (click on "2019-2020 Kindergarten Registration" located on the right side of the page.)

Please note that families who filled out the census will also receive a letter from our central office with this kindergarten registration information. If you know of a family new to our community, please pass this information along.

Thank you and we look forward to meeting our incoming kindergarten students for the 2019-2020 school year!

Extra Sweater/Sweatshirt
With the fluctuating temperatures, please send your child to school with an extra sweater or sweatshirt. The Vining furnace does a good job keeping the building reasonably comfortable, but this weather is keeping us guessing.

Library Book Exchange
On Tuesday morning, students are scheduled to exchange their library books. If you child is in classroom 16, 15, 11, 7, 3, and 6 please remember to have them bring their books back to school. Students in classroom 18, 17, 13, 9, and 4 will exchange books next week.

Lost and Found

If your child is missing their jacket, hat, or mittens, please have them check the lost and found table. All items are displayed in the main hallway.

Lunch Menu
Please click the link to view our winter lunch menu. We are in week 1.

Note from Mrs. Nolan
It is hard to believe that we are already in the second half of the school year.  The nurse’s office continues to be a busy place. With cold and flu season now upon us, I would like to remind parents to please keep your student home if they are sick.  They should be fever-free for 24 hours, without the use of Tylenol or Motrin, no vomiting or diarrhea, and be well enough to get through a school day. There has been a slight uptick in gastrointestinal illnesses as well as strep throat.  Students who have been put on antibiotics should receive 2-3 doses before returning to school. Remember, the best way to keep from getting sick is to wash your hands thoroughly, use hand sanitizer, and try to avoid touching your face!
We have recently been updating our medical alerts and allergies, and have found that some of our information we have on record is not up-to-date.  If your child has been diagnosed with a life threatening allergy that requires an epi-pen, and there have been changes to their allergy status (no longer allergic, or new allergy) please make sure to inform the school nurse.  Once there is a diagnosis, a doctor’s note is required if the allergy is no longer an issue. Please keep this in mind if you have an upcoming appointment. Your doctor may want to retest to make sure the allergy no longer an issue before clearing the student of that allergy.

Finally, we are finishing our state mandated screenings (height and weight for grades 1 and 4; postural screening for grade 5). We no longer send letters about BMI screenings and urge parents to contact their pediatricians if there are any concerns. You will only get a letter about the postural screening if there are any abnormal findings and recommend contacting your pediatrician for further evaluation.

Request from the Office
Please remember to notify the office if your child's dismissal schedule changes, even if the change is for one afternoon.

Have a Super Star Week!
